B-1 Business Visa
Business travelers, who wish to visit the U.S. for a short
period of time to conduct scientific, educational, professional or
business meetings, attend conferences, promote business development,
or engage in other similar activities, should apply for a B-1 visa.
In general, one is not permitted to work or seek employment while in
the U.S. on a B-1 visa.

The B-2 visa is for foreign nationals seeking to enter the U.S.
temporarily for pleasure or medical treatment. Some examples of
activities for which this visa can be obtained are attending
conventions and meetings of social and service organizations,

activity as an amateur.
